Republican Senator Jim Tedisco asked the Inspect General Lucy Lang's office to provide an update on the investigation of the Schoharie Limo Crash that killed 20 people in 2018.

Tedisco has urged the office to provide more details into the investigation so further legislation and regulations are upheld by lawmakers and the limousine safety commission.

"We're talking about a new administration, new transparency," Tedisco said. "I'd like the inspector general to tell me did you complete that investigation? Did you not complete that investigation? Who was responsible for this? Was DOT responsible for this in some sense? Do we need more regulations?"

The investigation into the state's handling of the issue and potential responsibility of the crash has been going on for a year now. Lang became Inspector General in 2021.

The matter is under review," said Lee Park, a spokesman for Lang.

Tedisco had urged for investigation last year when the National Transportation Safety Board put the blame on the Department of Transportation and Department of Motor Vehicle along with the owner of the Prestige Limousine for not removing the vehicle from the road.

"We have to get to the bottom of this and figure out whose culpable and who caused this disaster," Tedisco said.

Previously, the state lawmakers have approved a few packages to make the limousine safety regulations more stringent in the state in the wake of the crash.
