Winter storms were already warned off and as expected they arrived causing many flights to be canceled. Limotrust.com gathers that more than 1,700 flights were canceled there. Delays are expected to last until Thursday, as a winter storm slammed the country on Wednesday.

According to the flight tracking website FlightAware, 1,771 flights into and out of the US were canceled in total by the end of the day. SkyWest, a regional airline collaborating with United, Delta, American, and Alaska Airlines, had to cancel over 400 flights. Southwest canceled about 290 flights, while Delta canceled more than 300.

On Wednesday, more than 6,400 planes were delayed.

According to FlightAware, the airports with the greatest impact were Denver International Airport, Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. There were delays at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport, Chicago O'Hare International Airport, and Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada.
